Comparative Study of Synthesis of Vanadium Pentaoxide Nanoparticles | Original Article
Nano sized vanadium oxide was synthesized by a sol gel method employing ammonium metavanadate as the starting precursor. A polyvinyl alcohol and citric acid used as additives is dissolved in a binary (ethanolwater) solvent to obtain a sol solution and heated until to obtain a homogeneous polymeric gel. During gel pyrolysis in an electrical furnace, vanadium salt is calcined to V2O5. The particle size was checked by particle size analyzer (PSA) and surface topography was checked by scanning electron microscope (SEM). By these methods, aggregates of uniform nanoparticles were obtained by changing the synthesis conditions.
